An employee of the Center for Legal Examination and Legislative Initiatives participated in a conference held in Moldova.
On 23–24 April of the current year, Ofelia Bayramli, Head of the Public Law Expertise Department of the Center for Legal Examination and Legislative Initiatives, participated in the international conference entitled “Advancing Gender Equality through Training of Judges and Prosecutors”, held in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova.
The conference was organised in the framework of the regional project “Women’s Access to Justice – Implementing Council of Europe gender equality and violence against women standards”, implemented within the European Union and the Council of Europe joint programme “Partnership for Good Governance”.
During the conference, participants took stock of progress in embedding gender equality into judicial training systems, while also discussing existing challenges and identifying future priorities. Panel discussions addressed key topics such as the integration of gender equality into judicial systems, European Union experiences in judicial training, and the development of partnerships for effective training of judicial professionals.
In addition, a group work session on “tackling gender bias in judicial decisions” was conducted, providing a platform for in-depth exchange of views and practical discussions on addressing judicial bias.
The conference brought together representatives of judicial training institutions, judicial and prosecutorial councils, judges, prosecutors, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders from various countries.
The event served as an important platform for strengthening international co-operation in the field of gender equality, sharing promising practices, and supporting the development of sustainable, high-quality and gender-sensitive training programmes aimed at ensuring effective implementation of relevant standards.
